Product Changes

Okay I may be in a pissy mood but with all the economic changes that we're going through and having to worry about every little penny nowadays I feel like I was taken at the grocery store. I buy TV dinners for quick meals on nights that I just can't cook. Tonight was one of those nights. I usually get the Swanson Classic line but imagine my surprise when I opened the box tonight and there was only one chicken patty in it along with the mashed potatoes and corn of course but I thought there had to be a mistake. The box in my hand clearly stated chicken patties. I don't expect the meat portion to be large for a cheap TV dinner but if the plural from of the meat is mentioned isn't it normal to expect more than one piece? Well, since I thought it was a mistake I went to Swanson.com and looked at the product there. Lo and behold, they've changed the packaging to say chicken patty on there. I contacted the company about the packaging not matching but I bet nothing comes from it. You can tell also from the packaging that it was a change that had been made not too long ago because the meat portion of the dinner tray is huge. Why not make the packaging smaller. Trying to save money and fool the consumer is what I'm saying. Why not just keep the 2 pieces of chicken in the Swanson Classic Boneless Fried Chicken meal and up the price a little bit? I hate that I paid the same amount of money as always, expecting 2 pieces of chicken got one and had misleading information on the packaging. I hope I'm not the only person who complained. Oh and of course I've got pictures too. I contacted the company about this but I bet I'll never hear from them. Time to switch brands that are still consumer loyal.

The above is my package. It's hard to read but it clearly states chicken pattIES.

Swansons from their online site. Their package says chicken pattY.

Waiting

and waiting and waiting. My new little nephew to be is taking his sweet time getting here. My sister K's water broke about 10 this morning and she was just about a 5 at 7:30 central time. Really I hope she has him after midnight because today is our nephew T's 21st birthday. It's better to have your own day in the family unless your a twin. My sister is only about 7 to 10 days early so that's not too bad. They're not sure because they had her due date for anywhere from the 14th through the 16th. Hopefully we'll get a call in the middle of the night that baby is here and healthy. We'll be going to see them tomorrow sometime. I can't wait to see who he looks like. Both my kids looked like Daddy. My brothers kids looked like him. I'm hoping little P will be a good combo of my sister and her hubby.

Better?

I think I finally beat the crap that knocked me down this week. I hope anyway. Today was more of a normal day for me. Yeah! We'll see what tomorrow brings but so far so good. My eyes aren't watering and I'm not sneezing my fool head off anymore either. It wasn't allergies either. I'm not really allergic to anything but penicillin. I feel like I have a little more energy today too. I'm glad this week is almost over. I am going to mention to my doctor on Monday about how bad I did feel this last week though. Can't hurt to let her know. Hopefully nothing else is going on with my body but getting older.

Sick

Sick, sick, sick.

It's not enough that I have carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetes and neuropathy in both feet now I've got a good ol' head cold on top of it all. I'm used to the aches and pains that come with my different medical problems but I'm walking around breathing like a fish and wishing for gills for that drowning feeling you get from a stuffy nose. It'll be gone before I know it but in the meantime I'm more miserable than usual. I slept the day away yesterday while the kids were in school and today I made it through most of the day but still needed a nap but I'm blaming that on getting caught up in a book late last night. I'm reading I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb. It's getting to the end so all of the story lines are winding up and I can't seem to put it down. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it tonight or tomorrow. Then I'll be starting Light on Snow by Anita Shreve. After that is The Viking's Woman by Heather Graham and Life Mask by Emma Donoghue. I picked up Life Mask at Dollar Tree. Gotta love an out of date hardcover book that only costs $1!

I got worn down this weekend from all the running around we did and I think that's how I caught this cold. The weather here lately has been running from extremes in the low 20's to the mid 70's. Being out and about dressed for cold and then getting the warm weather didn't help. We had a good weekend though. Chris and I went and picked up a Wii Sport for the family to play. The kids love it. Saturday we're having my siblings and Mom over to try it out with them. We'll be having chili cheese dogs too but I'm going to have to use the indoor grill on them since Chris's propane grill gave up the ghost. I'm ordering him a new one through Fingerhut but there's no way it will get here in time.

Anyway back to shopping...LOL. After we went shopping we had lunch at Red Lobster. It's probably our last splurge for a long, long time. We really enjoyed it. We tried the stuffed lobster mushrooms but didn't like them. The manager offered us another appetizer to replace it but we told him no that we just wanted to try the mushrooms and had plenty of other food to finish anyway. Now we knew we told him that we don't care for them. We got the ticket and they had removed it. Sometimes it pays to be nice. After that we went to Target and picked up a few odds and ends for the Wii that we couldn't find at the first store. Then to Family Dollar for dog food and we got back home a couple of hours before the kids got out of school. LOL, this was all on Friday. Saturday we went to the movies. Chris and I saw Underworld 3. It was really good. Not better than either of the movies in the trilogy but good. J went with my brother to see Hotel for Dogs and N went with my sister to see Inkheart. They both really loved the movies they each saw too. After the movies Chris and I went to Sam's and did some major stocking up on odds and ends. We picked the kids up from my Mom's and my cousin was there. Why nobody thought to call us and let us know she was there after our movie got out I'll never know. We got to see her about 10 minutes or so because of having groceries in the car. Sunday came and I took my happy little (not!) butt to the laundromat to dry clothes and then to the grocery store to finish up grocery shopping for the next couple of weeks. Then I came home and Chris tried to grill steaks but the stupid grill decided to die so that's another thing I had to replace. Thank goodness for Fingerhut.

So I've been feeling this way since Sunday afternoon so hopefully it'll be gone before this weekend. I hate getting a headcold!
