We went and saw Dad today. Just Mom and me. I had to take Chris into work because they're redoing and adding on to the parking lot where he works. He doesn't want to leave it parked on the street while he's on the road this week. Hopefully it won't take too long for them to get it all done. Anyway, Mom went with me this morning to drop Chris off. We got up to the VA and there was no parking in the building my Dad is in. I dropped Mom off at the front and went and parked across the street from there until someone moved. Mom uses a cane and I have neurapathy in both feet so its too far for either of us to walk from the parking lot to the front door of his building. It doesn't help that most of the parking is for doctors and vans for patient use but they really do not get many visitors in his unit anyway. Still its nice to be able to use handicap parking when we need it which we usually do. :(
Dad was in a good mood this morning. When I finally got upstairs they were in a visitation room watching an old Dale Robertson movie called Blood on the Arrow. He kept saying off and on through the movie..That's Dale Robertson. I wonder what happened to him? We'd talk about other actors in the movie but he always went back to Dale Robertson. We had about an hour visit and he started in with saying he had to go to the bathroom but couldn't cause I was there. I left for a little bit (10 minutes or so) thinking that would help him settle down. He's in diapers but can't remember sometimes. We saw the doctor while we were there and she said he was doing very well. After the scary pneumonia episode a few months back he's recovered pretty well. They've reduced some of his meds too she said. The only thing going on is he hollers help every few minutes and when asked what he needs he doesn't remember saying help. Not a long visit but nice. He knew I was a daughter today too. He might not know my name but at least he knows my face.
